Job Description:

The Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences in the VCU School of Dentistry invites candidates to apply for the teaching and research faculty position of Oral Medicine Doctor. The primary mission of the School of Dentistry is to educate practitioners of Dentistry capable of meeting the general oral health needs of the communities they serve. Integral parts of the mission are research and other scholarly activity, patient care, and service and leadership in dental education and organized dentistry, and collaboration and participation with other units with VCU and VCU Health Systems. We are seeking a candidate to provide instruction, patient care, and research in field of oral medicine. Teaching responsibilities include course development, directorship, and teaching in the area of oral medicine and biomedical sciences for dental, dental hygiene, and advanced education students in collaboration with other School of Dentistry and School of Medicine faculty members. We are looking for a candidate to contribute to and participate in a humanistic environment of learning and to incorporate adult learning theory, evidence-based oral health care, innovation in student learning, and critical thinking. Clinical responsibilities include conducting a practice in oral medicine with direct clinical patient care. We are looking for a candidate with the ability to adapt to change, embrace modern technology, and demonstrate commitment to work in and foster a diverse environment. Research responsibilities include scholarly activity resulting in peer reviewed publications. Skills/Qualifications Required:

Applicants must have a D.D.S. or D.M.D. degree, be eligible for licensure in Virginia, and completed a CODA accredited advance education in Oral Medicine. Applicants must be a diplomate of or board eligible for the American Board of Oral Medicine. Although oral medicine training is preferred, applicants who completed a CODA accredited oral and maxillofacial pathology advanced education program and who have a strong and extensive experience in oral medicine will also be considered. Teaching and practice experience are preferred. Rank and tenure eligibility commensurate with candidate qualifications and experience.
