This talk provides an overview for the results of the multicenter OraRad study and highlights the impact of head and neck cancer radiotherapy on salivary glands function.

It brings to the stage colleagues from other countries to discuss historical perspective, current status, and future visions of oral medicine. The session further highlights the current international collaborative efforts and foreseen opportunities for global research and development that will positively impact the future of oral medicine.

2. Describe the current status of the field of oral medicine including the strengths and challenges as well as potential strategies to overcome these challenges.
