Return to the Fall 2024 Newsletter News from Western University College of Dental Medicine Sahar Mirfarsi, DDS Associate Professor in Oral Medicine, Western University College of Dental Medicine was featured on the Oral Cancer Foundation's (OCF) Oral Cancer Answers Podcast titled "Oral Biopsies Save Lives," hosted by Kyle Isaacs. Dr. Mirfarsi invited one of her fourth-year dental students to join her on the podcast to discuss the vital role of oral medicine specialists in dental and medical education, patient care, and the important role of oral healthcare providers in detecting early diseases, particularly oral cancer with early asymptomatic head & neck manifestations. Dr. Mirfarsi emphasized, "It's critical to help patients and make timely diagnoses of oral malignancies through oral biopsies. Health care providers should strive to change and save the lives of their patients." She also highlighted CDM's exceptional oral diagnostic services, such as access to dental specialists and oral biopsy grants in saving lives. Her student, Dr. Stephanie Govea, shared insights on how oral medicine education at CDM has transformed her approach to patient care, diagnosis, and management of complex cases.
