Exciting Developments from the Pre-CMC Specialty Meeting

We are pleased to share some significant updates from the recent Pre-CMC Specialty Meeting, notably the approval of new codes for photobiomodulation with lasers. This is an important milestone for our field, paving the way for enhanced treatment options and recognition.

The pre-meeting session proved invaluable, aligning the understanding among specialty members regarding coding and fostering a unified voice. As a substantial portion of the voting members of the Code Maintenance Committee (CMC), our influence is crucial during the subsequent official ADA CMC meetings. We are proud to mention that Dr. Jaisri Thoppay successfully attended both meetings virtually, ensuring continuous engagement and input.

In other news, the American Dental Association (ADA) will soon call a new address home. Effective this summer, the ADA's headquarters will move to 401 North Michigan Avenue, a location situated more conveniently along the Chicago CTA Loop, compared to the historical 211 E Chicago Avenue building. This change is eagerly anticipated, with the ADA Specialty Group meetings planned to take place at the new venue next fall.

Attendees can plan ahead for next year's meetings, with the Blue Line (Chicago CTA train) offering easy access to the new ADA site. Travel arrangements for our voting representative, Lauren Patton, are already in motion for the upcoming CMC voting session on Friday, March 7, 2025. Additionally, the Specialty Committee will meet in the afternoon of March 6, 2025, for pre-meeting discussions.

We look forward to the continued progress and collaboration that these meetings foster within our specialty.
