Program Agenda
Oral medicine residency programs in the United States are required to be at least in part hospital-based, lending to a high degree of multidisciplinary care and interprofessional education.
In this webinar, Nathaniel Treister, DMD, DMSc, DABOM, Chief of Oral Medicine and Dentistry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and interim residency program director, will moderate an interactive and informative discussion of several challenging clinical cases with two of his third-year residents, Drs. Rossella Intini and Shaiba Sandhu.
Objectives
After reviewing this course work the participants should be able to:
1. Appreciate the role of oral medicine in the diagnosis of systemic conditions through oral manifestations 2. Be able to prioritize and safely deliver necessary dental care to medically complex patients to expedite their medical treatment 3. Understand the importance of interdisciplinary care in oral medicine

Dr. Treister is Chief of the Division of Oral Medicine and Dentistry at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Clinical Director of Oral Medicine and Oral Oncology at the Dana-Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He also serves as interim program director for the Harvard School of Dental Medicine/Brigham and Women’s Hospital oral medicine residency program. He is board certified in Oral Medicine and practices at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Boston Children’s Hospital with special interest in oral mucosal diseases, salivary gland diseases, orofacial pain disorders, and oral complications in cancer patients. He is co-principal investigator of an NIH R01 grant entitled “Long Term Oral Health Outcomes in the Chronic GVHD Consortium” and serves as site principal investigator for an NIH U01 grant entitled “Clinical Registry of Dental Outcomes in Head and Neck Cancer Patients”. |
